Meet the Author & Illustrator: Lauren!
Hi, I’m Lauren! I started in the ICU as a new graduate nurse...and you can too!
ScrubLifeNotes was inspired during my time as a nurse in Cardiac, Neuro, and Trauma ICUs. During this time, I completed my ICU residency, earned my CCRN, and served in roles such as Education Committee Chair, 'Core' Preceptor, and Trauma Responder.
My dedication to nursing education led me to develop ScrubLifeNotes, aiming to fill a gap in visual learning resources for critical care nurses. In 2023, we partnered with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) to promote our resources to ICU nurses across the country!
But, I didn't stop there! In 2023, I completed my MSN-FNP, began creating resources for nurse practitioner students, and received the UNC ‘Outstanding Alumni Nurse Innovator Award’ for my contributions to the nursing field with my New to ICU™ products.
From New Grad to Confident Nurse: I’ve Been There!
When I started in the ICU, I struggled with the overwhelming transition from nursing school to real-world practice.
I needed clear, visual resources to help me understand complex topics quickly and effectively—so I began creating my own guides!
These “one-pagers” became my lifeline, breaking down challenging critical care concepts into manageable visuals. I created ScrubLife Notes because I know firsthand how tough that learning curve can be, and I want to share what’s helped me with others navigating the same path!
Since then, over 30,000+ nursing students, new grad nurses, ICU managers, educators, and preceptors have benefited from using my New to ICU™ resources! We proudly partner with Clinical Nurse Specialists and ICU Peer Review teams to ensure that New to ICU™ will integrate seamlessly into current day ICUs.
